It's a done deal, well, sorta.
A few days ago I applied for a project approval over at www.kickstarter.com and today our project was accepted. What the hell is kickstarter you ask? It's this:
Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every month, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.
What does that mean? It means, you like my project or somebody else's project on kickstarter.com and you go and kick in a few bucks to help them succeed in their project completion.
People kick in all sorts of amounts. It adds up. The kicker in kickstarter is that you gotta hit your $ goal asking amount in a specified time or you don't get any money and all those people that wanted to kick in some cash don't get charged anything at all.
The idea is that we, my team of 3 and I, secure funding to produce our outer space/sci-fi/freakout film that we've been working on. I guess it's time to start thinking of a title for this flick.
I've been using the title 'How do astronauts sleep?' during the writing phase but was told by a friend that it may be too 'indi' sounding. So I'm not sure yet. We shall see.
I thought I'd start a fresh new blog to write about our kickstarter experience as we begin to go about the putting together of our kickstarter launch and all the way through to the completion of our kickstarter experience.
I hope we get our funding
Game plan:
1. Finalize title of movie once and for all.
2. Map out a kickstarter launch movie.
3. Come up with awesome prizes for each of the donation categories.
4. Update this blog every step of the way.
6. Make the movie?
